HLC Criteria for Accreditation
The Criteria for Accreditation convey the standards of quality by which HLC determines whether an institution merits accreditation or reaffirmation of accreditation. Video modules on the revised (2025) Criteria for Accreditation are provided for training by HLC.
Request an Official Letter from HLC
UIC staff and faculty may request an official letter to comply with a request from a regulatory agency, such as a state agency or the U.S. Department of Education, to verify the institution’s accredited status, document that HLC approved a particular program or location, and/or provide other information confirming an aspect (s) of the institution’s scope of accreditation by HLC. Depending on the complexity of the request, this process may take 1–2 weeks. Provide necessary information by using the Request Form.
Request Support
Staff, faculty, administrators, and students may complete the Request Support Form for assistance with any topic related to institutional or specialized accreditation.
